General information
End rolls or mill ends, are rolls of fabric that have been slit down to widths ranging from 1 inch up to 20 inches. Yardage will vary from 20 to 200 yards(mostly 50 yards to 100 yards)and will be on a cardboard roll.
What is a pound of fabric?
1 pound of poly/cotton fabric = 3.5 to 4 yards of 45” wide fabric.
How much fabric is needed?
1. Rag Crochet Rugs—Most crochet rugs will take 3 to 6 pounds of 2” to 3” wide fabric using the size Q hook, and 2 to 3 pounds with 1” to 2” wide fabric using the smaller P hook. 2.Hand-woven rugs—Generally need 1.5 to 2 pounds for a 2’ x 3’ size and 2 to 2.5 pounds for a 27” x 48” size rug.
Types of fabric & uses
Include poly/cotton, cotton, corduroy, and poplin. Most customers prefer the poly/cotton fabric for rag crochet rugs, while rug weavers often prefer the corduroy and poplin fabric. We also have 7” to 12” wide rolls of drapery/jacquard fabric ideal for strip quilts. Approximately 4 to 5 pounds of these fabrics will make a 90” x 108” quilt. Each pack will state the number of pounds, type of fabric & range of widths. For an additional charge, fabric may be ordered pre-cut (1.75” to 3.5”).
